Two minutes from the Hotel Noucentista, on a quiet street in the old town, there is a shop I find myself recommending almost every week: India Mon Amour. It has been curating independent brands since 2016, and to my eye it holds the best-put-together selection in Sitges. I walk past a lot of windows in this town; this is the one that still makes me stop.

A shop built on taste

What sets India Mon Amour apart is who does the choosing. Sonia, the owner, has an exceptional eye, and you feel it the moment you step in, whether the window is dressed for Christmas with a lit star and a birch branch, or kept spare for a quiet week in February. Isabel, who works alongside her, is effortlessly cool and turns a quick look around into an actual pleasure. Nobody hovers, nobody pushes. They simply know every piece on the rail, they remember what you bought last time, and they are generous with their time even when the shop is busy. That is rarer than it sounds, and it is the reason a five-minute errand often turns into half an hour.

Brands worth keeping

The labels tell the rest of the story. Inside you find a wall of soft leather totes in ochre, plum and black, a wooden board of fine jewellery, and a rail that runs from everyday cotton to the piece you save up for. The store works with independent designers and quietly timeless names: Masscob, Soeur, Humanoid and Alhaja. These are clothes you keep for years, not for a season, and the prices reflect real make rather than fast fashion. I would rather own three things from here than a wardrobe full of pieces I stop wearing by March.

What I have carried home

I should admit I am not a neutral witness. Over the years I have bought some of my favourite wardrobe staples right here. A pair of Alhaja earrings and a matching ring that were exactly right for a wedding in Madrid. Veja sneakers that carried me through winter. A Humanoid jumpsuit I still reach for, practical Soeur trousers I wear all the time, and those lightweight yellow Humanoid trousers I love a little too much. And a Masscob jacket that quietly saved my trip to Helsinki, where “summer” turned out to be a steady 16 °C. Every one of them still earns its place; none of them was an impulse I regret.

How it all comes together

The pleasure of a good concept store is that someone with judgement has already done the editing for you. Nothing here feels random; a jacket, a bag and a pair of trousers that look unrelated on the rail somehow make sense once you try them on together. That is exactly how I ended up with the quiet, easy outfit below, pieces I now wear on repeat, in Sitges and everywhere else. If you are the kind of traveller who would rather bring home one good thing than a suitcase of souvenirs, this is your shop.

Why I send guests there

Whether you are after a special piece, a present that does not feel generic, or simply a well-made staple you will wear for a decade, India Mon Amour is where I would start you. For independent fashion and shopping in Sitges, it is my first address. If you like this kind of address, it is one of several I gather in our guide to the best concept stores in Sitges, small, independent shops that are worth your time and easy to reach on foot.

The practical part

India Mon Amour is a genuine two-minute walk from the hotel, door to door, so it slots easily between a morning coffee and the beach. You can preview the current selection at indiamonamour.shop, though half the fun is trying things on with Isabel’s running commentary. If you are staying with us and want a hand planning an afternoon of it, just ask me at reception, I am always glad to point you to the shops worth your time. Bring comfortable shoes, the whole old town is walkable, and this is one stop I can promise you will not regret.
