There are weekends when Sitges becomes the centre of the world, and Gay Pride is clearly one of them. For five days the town fills with colour, the beach turns into a party village and the buzz spills into every side street. A Pride by the sea
Sitges has long been one of Europe’s most welcoming destinations for the LGBTQ+ community, and its Pride is that spirit at its finest. In 2027 it runs from 9 to 13 June. The heart of the celebration is the Pride Village set up along the seafront, next to the gay beach: open-air concerts, drag shows and guest DJs, every night until the small hours.
What strikes you is the mix. You’ll rub shoulders with regulars from all over the world, with families, with the curious, and with locals who throw themselves right into it. The mood stays easy-going from morning to night, and the sea is never far when you need to catch your breath between parties.
The big parade and the high heel race
Two highlights set the rhythm of the week. The parade, on Sunday, makes its way along the seafront in a procession of floats, feathers and music: it’s the most spectacular moment, not to be missed for anything. And then there’s the famous Sitges High Heel Race on Friday, that dash in stilettos that is as hilarious as it is frantic, complete with shows and prizes, and which sums up the town’s spirit all on its own: here you take yourself just seriously enough.
All around, the whole old town comes alive. Terraces overflow, the bars of the famous «pecado» (the party quarter) never empty out, and the fun drifts naturally from one spot to the next without ever needing a car.
But Sitges Pride is about far more than the nights. The day has its own, gentler rhythm. You have breakfast on a terrace, head down to the beach, take a swim, put the world to rights with friends before heading out again come evening. It’s that balance that wins over so many of our guests: intense partying when it counts, and the Mediterranean to unwind in between. And if Sitges welcomes Pride so warmly, it’s because the town is open all year round, not just for one weekend. You simply feel like you belong.
Staying in the heart of it changes everything
This is where where you sleep makes all the difference. The parade, the village, the bars: it all happens a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. No train to catch back to Barcelona in the middle of the night, no taxi to hunt for in the crowd. When you’re tired, you walk home; when the urge to go out returns, you head back out.

Our tips for doing it right
- Book well ahead. Pride week is one of the rare times Sitges sells out completely, sometimes months in advance.
- Save some energy for Sunday’s parade. It’s the peak of the week, and it kicks off late in the day.
- Alternate partying and the beach. Sitges’ great strength is being able to string together a quiet afternoon by the water and a night of celebration without ever going far.
- Check the official programme. The exact 2027 timings are confirmed as the event draws near.
Sitges Pride isn’t a show you watch from afar, it’s a party you live from the inside. Along with carnival, the other big moment of the year, it’s the town’s biggest celebration on the calendar: two good reasons to come and discover Sitges.
