The whole trip runs south from Barcelona toward the Garraf hills. You leave the traffic behind in about half an hour, and suddenly the light turns golden and the roads go quiet.
I have driven this loop many times, always with the same feeling. The nearer you get to the vines, the more the city falls away and the day begins to slow down.

Our first stop is the centre of Sant Pere de Ribes, a small town wrapped in vineyards. Park near the main square and simply walk, with no plan and no hurry.

Take your time here. The vineyards start right at the edge of town, so the countryside is always just a glance away. Sit on a bench, watch neighbours greet each other, and let the pace of the place reset yours.

If you are hungry for a snack, grab a coffee at a terrace and people-watch. Everything here happens at walking speed, which is exactly what a good date needs. You are only thirty-odd minutes from the city, yet it feels like another, gentler world.
Natural wine and vineyards at Clos Lentiscus
A few minutes on, the vines open up around Clos Lentiscus, a family winery at the historic Can Ramon estate. They specialise in natural wine, farmed without chemicals in the Garraf hills above the Mediterranean.
Walk between the rows, breathe the mix of sea air and wild herbs, and then taste. Their sparkling bottles, made from native Catalan grapes, are the rural heart of this romantic escape.
What I love is how personal it feels. The family works the land by hand, following the seasons, and you can taste that care in the glass.
Sharing a glass among the vines, with the sun going down, is the moment most couples remember afterwards. It is quiet, honest, and completely unhurried.
Dinner at Marboa, my favourite table in Sant Pere de Ribes
When the light fades, we head back into town for dinner at Marboa. In my opinion, it is the best restaurant in Sant Pere de Ribes: warm service, honest cooking, and remarkable value for money.
The room is small and welcoming, the sort of place where the staff remember your name. It never feels stiff, only generous.
These are the dishes I always order:
- The tuna parpatana, so fatty and tender it eats almost like a steak.
- The raw tuna, or toro, laid over cool ajoblanco, silky and refreshing at once.
- The Puri, their playful miniature take on arroz a la cubana.
Pair all of it with their natural wines and let the evening stretch. There is no better table nearby for a slow, romantic dinner, and the bill always surprises us for being so gentle.
Finishing your romantic getaway near Barcelona in Sitges
Here is my one real piece of advice. Instead of driving back to Barcelona after dinner, keep going toward the coast.
Sitges sits only about six minutes from Sant Pere de Ribes by car — and you do not even need to drive. A regular bus links the two towns in around ten minutes, which is perfect after a glass or two of natural wine at Clos Lentiscus. Either way, that short hop turns a lovely dinner into a proper mini Mediterranean escape.
Fall asleep to the sound of the waves and book a room in the heart of the old town. Our Hotel Noucentista fills an Art Nouveau building steps from the sand, so your morning coffee comes with salt air and sunshine.
Wake early and walk the seafront promenade before the town stirs. Climb to the church of Sant Bartomeu, watch the fishing boats, and drift back for breakfast with the Mediterranean at your feet.
Then lose yourselves in the old town for an hour. The whitewashed lanes, the tiny shops, and the sudden blue of the sea at the end of each street make even a short morning feel like a holiday.
