Every year the big trade shows take Barcelona over for four days. City-centre hotels sell out months ahead, rates climb, and by evening you are queueing for dinner. We see a fair number of trade-show visitors at Hotel Noucentista, and they all say the same thing: they wish they had looked a little further out from the start.

So here is the concrete case for Sitges as a base for ISE 2027, with the actual journeys rather than optimistic guesses.

ISE 2027: Dates and the Exact Location

ISE 2027 runs from 2 to 5 February 2027 at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via, Av. Joan Carles I 64, in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. Halls open 10:00-18:00 Tuesday to Thursday, and 10:00-16:00 on Friday.

Here is the part people discover on arrival: Fira Gran Via is not in Barcelona. It sits south-west of the city, in L’Hospitalet, on metro line L9 South at the Fira and Europa | Fira stops, five minutes’ walk from the entrances. Which means staying on the Ramblas does not put you closer to the show. It puts a full city crossing between you and the halls, twice a day, at the worst hours.

The Journey From Sitges, Step by Step

Sitges lies south of Barcelona, on the same side as the Fira. The route looks like this:

  • Rodalies R2 Sud train, Sitges → El Prat de Llobregat: about 24 minutes, with a train every 30 minutes;
  • change at El Prat Estació onto metro L9 Sud;
  • L9 Sud to Europa | Fira: roughly ten minutes.

Call it three quarters of an hour door to door. The number matters less than the comfort: you never cross Barcelona, you never change at Sants in rush hour, and you board at Sitges where the train starts, so you get a seat. Across four days of a show, that adds up.

And the first link in the chain matters as much as the rest: Sitges station is a two-minute walk from the hotel. You step out, turn the corner, and you are on the platform. No taxi to order at 7:30, no suitcase to drag half a mile.

The Airport Is on the Same Line as the Show

This is the other advantage, and it is underrated. Barcelona airport connects straight to Fira Gran Via on L9 South in about twenty minutes. And Sitges is easy to reach from the airport:

  • the direct bus between Sitges and Terminal 1 takes around 40 minutes, for a little over 8 EUR, and its stop is a three-minute walk from reception;
  • by rail, R2 Sud to El Prat Estació, then L9 Sud out to the terminals.

Land late the night before the doors open and you are at the hotel quickly, without going anywhere near the city centre.

What Changes Once the Day Ends

This is where the decision is really made. At six, when the halls close, Barcelona is at capacity: full restaurants, packed metro, and a room where you hear the street until late.

Sitges in February is the opposite. The town is quiet, the sea is two minutes’ walk from almost anywhere, and you can have dinner without booking three days ahead. If you still have emails to answer or tomorrow’s meetings to prepare, you do it in peace. And if you have a free morning before your flight, the beaches and the old town are right there, no train required.

Where to Stay in Sitges During ISE

Hotel Noucentista occupies an Art Nouveau building in the old centre of Sitges, a few minutes on foot from both the station and the sea. It is a small family-run house rather than a chain hotel: seven room types, period stained glass, a staircase worth the detour, and a terrace.

For a trade-show trip, two things matter: a solid connection and a room you actually sleep in. If you want room to spread papers out, look at our double room with a terrace; all our charming rooms in Sitges are listed with sizes and views on the dedicated page. We do not serve breakfast, and that is deliberate: the cafés around the corner open early and do it better than we would.

Worth Knowing Before You Book

  • Book early. February is a quiet season in Sitges, but ISE week fills up fast, here too.
  • Get the right travel pass. Sitges and Barcelona are not in the same fare zone, so check the zone when you buy — it beats a single ticket every day.
  • Leave a margin in the morning. A train every 30 minutes is comfortable, but missing the 8:15 costs you.
  • Check your hall. South and east entrances are the ones you reach from Europa | Fira; for the north entrance, Foc station is closer.
